The Mid-America Football League is the only true minor league not-for-profit football cooperative in the country. Founded in 1995 the MFL has organized and promoted over 723 regular season, play-off, championship and all-star games. Semi-Pro/Minor League/Adult Amateur football has over 600 teams in 50 leagues throughout the United States and Canada.
Since its inception more than 4,000 athletes have played in MFL team uniforms with some of the nations top minor league teams. The 2006 season promises to be even better with the league teams: Minnesota Maulers, Minneapolis Lumberjacks, Midwest Pioneers, Twin Cities Titans, Cedar Valley(IA) Vikings, Central Minnesota Thunderbirds, Minnesota Valley Warriors, Iowa Threshers, Superior Stampede and the Winina/Lacrosse Rough Riders. MFL teams have sent 83 players to the professional level in Arena and World League Football leagues.
The Mid-America Football League has helped launch several regional and national events: The Free Agent Semi-Pro All-American Bowl for minor league and college all-stars, held annually in the Minneapolis Metrodome the third Saturday in December. Also, the MFL has helped coordinate the USFA, AFA, MLFN and Casino Bowls on a National level. Finally, in 1998, the MFL was a source of the resurgence of Women's football in the United States, assisting with the start of the Women's Professional Football League.
